In 1892 the British built the first golf course in India, the Royal Calcutta Golf Course. An unforeseen problem was that monkeys would run in and snatch balls, the British attempted trapping, shooting, etc , but eventually a rule was established: "Play The Ball Where The Monkey Drops It" The golf course is still in operational today.
